Our previous home

Renovated from a student flat, this home was situated in the heart of Palmerston North, New Zealand.   She’s a grand 111 years old this year (2014).

And the work it took to get it to this state:

And lastly, the original home:

The renovation of the guest room is almost complete (!) – I took a long time deciding on the right colour much to my husband’s dismay (he thought every colour was just fine).

Completion means that the wardrobe doors are back on, and the bed is shifted back in.  We are hopeful to achieve this in the next few days.

Inspiration for the final colour came from a variety of sources.

Criteria:

  • A colour that was dark and enveloped its guests;
  • A colour that was suit each season; this was a second story bedroom which looked out over magnolia, beech and oak, I wanted the colour to work with summer and autumn colours
  • A colour that was like those found in nature

Resene Stonewall (New Zealand) fit the bill.
